Why CO₂ Monitoring is Essential

Safety while handling any CO₂ tank or CO₂ system is vital. One wrong step could lead to injury or even death in extreme cases. Even when you are doing everything correctly, it is still strongly advised you monitor CO₂ levels when a CO₂ system is in use, especially if it is being used indoors.

Checking how high or low the CO₂ levels are is possible, we recommend a CO₂ detection sentry monitoring device.

How CO₂ Detectors Work

CO₂ concentrations in the air are detected by using nondispersive infrared (NDIR) technology. Most are capable of measuring concentrations up to 50,000 ppm. They are designed to be waterproof to prevent dust and water from impairing the IR detection sensor.

CO₂ detectors normally have digital displays that show the amount of CO₂ in the ambient air. This device normally has a life of up to 5 years. These are especially used for cellars, breweries, incubation, and CO₂ storage rooms. These units are also used to monitor CO₂ levels in nightclubs and bars.

When Too Much CO₂ is Present

Danger: High CO₂ Levels

In case of a CO₂ leak and too much carbon dioxide starts filling up an area, you and others in the same room could be in danger. Inhaling high levels of CO₂ could lead to asphyxiation.

The displays most CO₂ detector lets you know if the room you are in has high CO₂ concentrations. An audible alarm will alert you letting you know when you have reached unsafe levels of CO₂. Some can even activate a relay output that will control a fan to help with ventilation.

Of course, having good ventilation while using CO₂ in a confined space is required. A CO₂ monitor should only be used for the monitoring of CO₂ levels in an area and should not be used as a crutch for proper ventilation.

CO₂ Storage Safety Equipment

CO₂ Storage Safety 3 Alarm Strobe Lights

Visual and audible alarms that activate when CO₂ levels reach dangerous thresholds. Essential for storage areas and facilities with multiple CO₂ cylinders.

Remote CO₂ Storage Safety Alarm

Remote monitoring systems that can alert staff in different locations when CO₂ levels become unsafe. Ideal for large facilities and multi-room operations.
